The recipients, all Ph.D. holders, were Tran Ha Lien Phuongfrom the Vietnam National University in HCM City, Vu ThiHanh Thu from the HCM City University of Natural Sciences and Tran ThiThu Thuy from the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.
The fellowships, worth 200 million VND each, aim to help the researcherscontinue their scientific projects, thus contributing to thedevelopment of research in Vietnam.
Phuong and Thuy haveresearched cancer treatments while Thu focused on the application ofTiO2 nanoparticles and ZnO in producing bacterial killing films.
The awards were granted by the For Women in Science Programme,launched by the L’Oreal Group and UNESCO in 1998. So far, it hassupported more than 1,700 female scientists in 108 countries.-VNA
