National Assembly adopts five laws

Hanoi (VNA) – The 14th National Assembly adopted five laws onNovember 19 during its sixth session.

With 92.99 percent of votes, the NA passed the revised Law on Amnesty.

The law consists of six chapters with 39 articles, stipulating the principles,time, order, procedure, jurisdiction, and responsibility of implementingamnesty; the conditions, rights, and obligations of those who are offeredpardon; as well as the rights and obligations of amnesty recipients. Subject tothe law are convicts with prison terms, including life sentences; agencies,organisations, and citizens of Vietnam; foreigners residing in Vietnam; as wellas foreign and international organisations operating in Vietnam related toamnesty activities.

NA deputies also voted to approve the Law on Crop Production with a 93.81percent approval rate.

With seven chapters and 85 articles, the law stipulates plantation activities; therights and obligations of organisations and individuals working in the field;and state management on crop production.

On the same day, the Law on Animal Husbandry was adopted with 93.61 percent of thevote. It stipulates activities on animal husbandry; the rights and obligationsof organisations and individuals working in the field; and state management onanimal husbandry in its eight chapters and 83 articles.

Meanwhile with a 96.29 percent approval rate, law makers passed the Law onVietnam Coast Guard.

The law, with eight chapters and 41 articles, regulates the position, function,mission, and jurisdiction of the Vietnam Coast Guard; its organisation andoperations, as well as regime and policies; and the responsibility of relatedagencies, organisations, and individuals.

The NA on November 19 continued to work with the endorsement of the law on amendments andsupplements to a number of articles of the Law on Higher Education, with 84.12percent of the vote. –VNA
