Tokyo (VNA) – Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi has pledged that the country will ensure a period of stability and peace so as to attract more foreign investment.
She made the commitment at a meeting with Japanese enterprises in Tokyo on October 8 on the occasion of her participation in the 10th Mekong-Japan Summit Meeting.
“We understand that peace, reconciliation, harmony, stability, rule of law, and human rights – all these have to be taken into consideration when looking for further investment and greater economic opportunities,” she said.
“We wish to be open and transparent to our friends,” she said, adding that “if you have concerns, if you have worries, please discuss this openly with us.”
The Myanmar State Councellor also committed to seeking solutions to the humanitarian crisis related to the Rohingya Muslim group in Rakhine.
Within the framework of her visit to Japan, Aung San Suu Kyi is scheduled to meet Japanese PM Shinzo Abe on October 9. –VNA
