Hanoi (VNA) - The Myanmargovernment, army and 10 signatories of the nationwide ceasefire accord (NCA)convened their trilateral peace talks on October 15.
Among the attendees were State CounselorAung San Suu Kyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Services Sen. Gen. Min AungHlaing, and Chairman of the Kayin National Union (KNU) Saw Mutu Sae Poe whorepresents the 10 signatory ethnic armed organisations (EAOs).
The four-day talks aims at removing bottlenecksin political discussions at various levels.
The event came three months after the thirdsession of Myanmar's 21st Century Panglong Peace Conference in July. During thesession, the Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee of Myanmar announced that ithad passed 14 basic principles related to politics, socio-economy, land andenvironment, thus raising the principles agreed by the Government and the EAOsto 51.
After the NCA was reached in 2015, theMyanmar Government held two sessions of the 21st Century Panglong PeaceConference in August 2016 and May 2017. At the second meeting, an initial of 37basic principles for establishing federalism under the NCA was approved.-VNA
