Pretoria (VNA) – A gathering has been held bymobile operator Movitel and Vietnamese Embassy in Mozambique for Vietnamesechildren living in the host country to enjoy Mid-Autumn Festival.
Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador toMozambique Nguyen Van Trung spoke highly of the event, saying it helps bringVietnamese people living overseas closer to each other.
Trung went on to laud effort of Movitel, a joint venturebetween Vietnam’s military-run telecom group Viettel and Mozambique’s SPI, in performing social responsibility. The development of the Vietnamese community in Mozambiqueis associating with the increasing presence of Vietnamese businesses, especiallyMovitel, in the southern African nation, he said.
He took the occasion to present gifts, including traditionalmasks and lanterns made by the embassy's staff, to children of Vietnamese families and Mozambican employees of Movitel.
Movitel, the first joint venture of Viettel in Africa, startedoperation in May 2012. Since then, it has developed a network of over 2,800 transmission stations and 27,650 km of cable and become Mozambique’s biggestmobile operator.-VNA
