Hanoi (VNA) – More Vietnamese people become interested in tours to theDemocratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).
At the Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) with the presence of the DPRK, HanoiRedtoursCompany said 500 tourists have booked the DPRK tour.
“Tours to the DPRK from April to September are full. It’s an unexpected successfor us,” said Nguyen Cong Hoan, director of the HanoiRedtours Company said.
Hoan said the Trump-Kim Summit and Chairman Kim Jong-un’s State visit toVietnam had boosted tourism to the DPRK.
To meet the increasing demand, Vietnamese tour companies have signed anagreement with the DPRK International Tourism Company (KITC), a leading tour operatorunder the DPRK National Tourism Administration.
A charter flight between Hanoi and Pyongyang will be launched in June followingan MoU signed between KITC and Hanoitourist Company.
Phung Quang Thang, director of the Hanoitourist Company, said the tour would costabout 30 million VND (1,500 USD) for a five-day trip.
“Currently, tours to the DPRK transit in China, costing a lot of time andmoney.”
“With the charter flight, tourists will save time on transit,” said Thang.
Some 300 Vietnamese visited the DPRK in 2018.
The VITM took place inHanoi from March 27-30, attracting 30,000 customers with a turnover of 322billion VND (14 million USD).-VNA
