Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam has so far this year recorded more than 7,000 cyberattacks, the Vietnam Computer Emergency Response Team (VNCERT) reported.
The team revealed the figure at an exercise on cyber security in the centraland Central Highlands regions that took place in Da Nang city on September 4.
Of the figure, there were some 2,500 phishing and 4,200 deface attacks duringthe period, the VNCERT said.
In the central and Central Highlands regions, about 25,000 computers facedrisks or were infected with malicious viruses.
The annual drill that aims to improve the capacity of the national cybersecurity emergency response network gathered more than 100 cyber securityexperts in the regions.
A report released by the InternationalTelecommunication Union (ITU) in late March 2019 shows Vietnam was ranked 50thout of 175 positions of 194 countries and territories worldwide in the globalcyber security index, up from 100th position in 2017.
The country ranked 11th among 38 countries andterritories in Asia-Pacific, and fifth out of 11 countries in Southeast Asia inthis regard, after Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.-VNA
