Hanoi (VNA) - A working delegation from the Ministry of Educationand Training (MoET) has paid a visit to the central region to encourage andsupport the education sectors in Quang Nam, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and ThuaThien-Hue provinces, which have been hit hard by the recent record floods andstorms.
Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong presented textbooks, desks and toys worth nearly 10 billion VND (433,000 USD) to the fourlocalities.
Meanwhile, Duong Thi Huyen Tram, head of theMovement Division at the Ho Chi Minh City Chapter of the Vietnam FatherlandFront, said on November 3 that it had received 65.1 billion VND in cash and 5.2billion VND worth of goods in support of disaster-hit people in the centralregion as of 4 pm on November 2.
Tram said that the goods, which include instantnoodles, rice, mattresses, mosquito nets, raincoats, buoys, textbooks, andnotebooks, and 15.9 billion VND were presented to affected localities.
The remaining cash and goods will bedistributed as soon as possible, she added.
On the same day, the Vietnam Fatherland Front’s Hanoi chapter said that it hadreceived 59 billion VND to help flood victims in the central region sinceOctober 13.
According to a report from the General Department of State Reserves, localDepartments of State Reserves have already completed delivering the first phaseof rice supplies to those affected.
Quang Binh, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue,and Quang Nam provinces received 1,000 tonnes of rice each.
The departments are striving to finish thesecond phase, providing an additional 6,500 tonnes of rice.
High-speed canoes, life-saving tents, buoys,and rafts have also been allocated to affected areas./.
