VNA helps flood-hit people in Thua Thien-Hue

Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) - A workingdelegation from the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), led by member of the PartyCentral Committee and VNA Director General Nguyen Duc Loi, visited the centralprovince of Thua Thien-Hue and held a working session with leading officials onNovember 2.

Expressing his condolences over the loss oflife and property caused by recent flooding, Loi said that VNA has launched afund-raising programme in support of people in the central region. A total of600 million VND (25,800 USD) has been collected and sent to the VietnamFatherland Front to assist those in need.

He passed on his congratulations over thesuccess of the recent 16th provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025tenure, believing that the two sides can continue to develop cooperation inproviding information on Thua Thien-Hue’s people and culture as well as itssocio-economic development potential and advantages to Vietnamese people andinternational friends.

Member of the Party Central Committee andSecretary of the provincial Party Committee Le Truong Luu thanked VNA for itsassistance to local authorities and people.

Storms and floods have left 43 people dead andmissing, he said, submerged hundreds of thousands of houses, and brought down over15,000 trees.

The locality is speeding up the search formissing workers at the Rao Trang 3 Hydropower Plant in Phong Dien district anddeploying resources to help local people quickly stabilise their lives.

On this occasion, the VNA delegation, in cooperationwith Bao Viet Bank, presented 80 relief aids worth 100 million USD to flood-affectedpeople in Quang Phu and Quang Tho communes in Quang Dien district./.
