Man dedicated to preserving Thai ethnic culture

A stilt house in Con Cuong town in Con Cuong district, Nghe An province, has been a popular destination for several years among visitors interested in Thai ethnic culture. Owned by Mr Vi Van Phuc, a 78-year-old collector, the house showcases nearly 1,000 artifacts he has gathered over the years, turning the stilt house into a small museum.

Mr. Phuc has dedicated a great deal of time over the past 30 years to traveling far and wide to collect ancient artifacts belonging to the Thai ethnic community. His stilt house sits on over 300 square meters, and showcases his collection on two floors. The artifacts are carefully organised into different themes.

The ground floor of the stilt house is used to showcase a vast array of artefacts of everyday life and production, including larger-sized items.

The second floor, meanwhile, displays rare and culturally significant items, including ancient outfits, ceremonial objects, and delicate ancient manuscripts.

With the Thai ethnic group comprising 72% of the population in Con Cuong, Thai culture holds great significance in the local area. Mr. Phuc’s collection serves as an invaluable “museum” not only for Thai people but also for national culture./.
