Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia will send experts to Mozambique for examining the wreckage found in the country, which possibly comes from the missing flight MH370, Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said on March 3.

The crew includes members of the Department of Civil Aviation, Malaysia Airlines, and the investigation team of the missing plane.

Malaysia will take hold of the one-metre long piece of debris , which will be transferred to Australia for further examination, he noted.

The minister said that if the wreckage proves to be from the aircraft, its location will match the drifting pattern related to the search for the missing plane in the South Indian Ocean.

Liow added that there will be a tripartite meeting between Malaysia, Australia and China in June to seek experts’ advice on the future search.

On March 8, an interim statement will be issued by the investigation team, which is expected to look into the cause of the accident.

Found by local fishermen along the coast of Vilanculos, Inhambane province, the mental piece allegedly from MH370 was delivered to the Mozambican National Civil Aviation Institute on March 2.

In July 2015, a fragment of MH370 was found on the island of La Reunion, France in the Indian Ocean and it was the only one discovered so far.

Malaysian Airline Flight MH370 disappeared on March 8, 2014, en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, with a total of 239 passengers and crew on board.

Two years into the incident, the search operation in the southern Indian Ocean, where analysis say the aircraft ended its journey, has yielded no concrete results.-VNA
