Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Malaysia and the US on November 10 started a four-day bilateral military exercise at the Kampung Tanduo beach in the Malaysian state of Sabad.
The Malaysian Defence Ministry said that the military training, called Malaysia-United States Amphibious Exercise 2015 (MALUS AMPHEX 15), is aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation , especially in coordination and sharing activities.
The exercise draws the participation of 422 officers and soldiers from the Malaysian Air Force and 220 others from the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) under the United States Marine Corps (USMC).
Among participating vehicles are the USS Rushmore (LSD 47), AV-8B Harrier V/STOL jets, CH-53E Super Stallion, MV-22 Osprey and amphibious assault vehicles.
The exercise involves force integration training and field training exercise (FTX), covering landing and attacks by hydroplanes and helicopters as well as jungle survival training.
MALUS AMPHEX 15 is the second exercise after the success of MALUS AMPHEX 14 last year with the US’s 11 th M arine Expeditionary Unit.-VNA
