Thevalue of durian exports in 2016 was 69.9 million RM and rose to 59million RM in 2017, 124.9 million RM in 2018, 127 million RMin 2019 and 144.7 million RM in 2020, he said.
He said thatuntil last September, Malaysian durians had been exported to 22 markets. The top five buyers were HongKong, China, Singapore, the United States and Australia, based on the 2020records.
Ahmad said the government did notimpose any export tax on durians exported abroad because it wanted to helpthe durian export market to remain competitive, grow rapidly and compete withdurians from other countries, especially Thailand./.
