Kuala Lumpur (VNA) - Malaysian stateshave reopened since October 11 as planned as the government is strving to restore thenew normal in the country.
Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said those have fullyvaccinated against COVID-19 will be able to travel freely in the country.However, the PM reminded people to remain vigilant and continue to followhealth guidelines. For those intended to return home to visit family ortravelling to other states should be tested prior to departure.
He also affirmed the resumption of travelbetween states in order to create conditions for thetourism industry and domestic economic activities to recover.
The decisioncame after Malaysia achieved its goal ofcompleting inoculation for 90 percent of the country's adult population byOctober 10. This is also the first time since January this year, Malaysiansare free to travel between states.
The number of new COVID-19 cases in Malaysia has continuouslydecreased since the end of September and so far, the Southeast Asian countryhas recorded less than 10,000 new infections per day. This is positiveinformation compared to the end of August when the country recorded nearly25,000 cases a day. The number of deaths from COVID-19 is also going down./.
