Travellers have marvelled at the splendour of the UNESCO World Heritage Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, which will be honoured at the Quang Binh Cave Festival 2015 taking place in the locality from August 14-21.
The festival, themed “Quang Binh - Kingdom of Caves”, will include the announcement and receipt of the UNESCO certificate recognising Phong Nha-Ke Bang as a World Heritage for the second time, coupled with a stellar art performance and splendid fireworks display.
A series of interesting activities are scheduled during the event, such as the launch of new tourist destinations, promotions, farm trips and ticket discounts such as discoveries to Xuyen Son Ho (Trans-Mountain Lake), Hang Toi (Dark Cave) and kayak rowing.
The activities aim to popularise Quang Binh’s cultural values and tourism through cave systems. It is also a golden opportunity for the province to lure more domestic and foreign investors and tourists, contributing to fostering local socio-economic development.
Reviewing tourism promotion results from 2014, Vice Director of the provincial Department of Planning and Finance Phan Manh Hung said some projects remain sluggish given difficulties in administrative procedures and land clearance.
However, with 34 trade and tourism projects and new infrastructure, the province is facilitating conditions to attract individuals and enterprises to invest in the locality, he added.-VNA
