Leader’s official visit augments Vietnam-Laos relations: LPRP official

The Vietnam-Laos relations will develop even more strongly in the time ahead following the freshly concluded official visit to Laos by Vietnamese Party and State leader, according to a senior official of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP).

Vientiane (VNA) – The Vietnam-Laos relationswill develop even more strongly in the time ahead following the freshlyconcluded official visit to Laos by Vietnamese Party and State leader,according to a senior official of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP).

Sounthone Xayachak, head of the LPRP CentralCommittee’s External Relations Commission, highlighted the significance of thevisit from February 24 to 25 by General Secretary of the Communist Party ofVietnam Central Committee and President Nguyen Phu Trong, in an interviewgranted to the Vietnam News Agency.

She noted that during the trip that received highregard from both sides, leaders of the two countries discussed bilateralcooperation in the coming time. 

They reaffirmed the significance of the greatfriendship, comprehensive cooperation and special relations between the twoParties, States and peoples, which were founded by Presidents Ho Chi Minh,Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong and have been safeguarded and nurtured bygenerations of the countries’ leaders and peoples.

In General Secretary and President Trong’s talkswith his Lao counterpart Bounnhang Vorachith and meetings with Prime MinisterThongloun Sisoulith and National Assembly Chairwoman Pany Yathotou, both sidesreiterated that they will together continue maintaining and developing thetime-tested, rare and faithful relationship so as to bring practical benefitsto the two peoples.

During the trip, the countries signed ninecooperation documents serving as the basis for realising their leaders’agreements, Xayachak noted.

The two nations have regular meetings everyyear, but this time’s tour held special importance as Trong visited Laos in hispositions of both Party General Secretary and President of Vietnam.

The official said what the two sides need to dois promoting more substantive cooperation. The cooperation in politics isconsidered the one setting up orientations for relations in other spheres.Meanwhile, bilateral links in defence, security and diplomacy have continuouslybeen strengthened. They are also working hard to bring their connections ineconomy, trade, investment and many other fields on par with political ties.

She added that to the Lao side, its relationshipwith Vietnam is forever “a great friendship, special solidarity andcomprehensive cooperation” that the entire Party, State and people of Laos arewell aware of.

The official expressed her hope that this relationshipwill be further intensified so that it will be handed down to futuregenerations and become immortal in the revolutionary causes of bothnations.-VNA
