Hanoi (VNA) – Legislators cast secret ballots to elect the new Chairman of the National Assembly’s Ethnic Council, heads of several NA committees and State Auditor General during a plenary session in Hanoi on April 5 as part of the 13th legislature’s 11th session.

In the morning session, the NA Standing Committee submitted a list of nominees for the posts.

It later reported the outcomes of group discussions about the nominations.

The NA then discussed and approved the list.

Accordingly, Deputy Chairman of the NA’s Ethnic Council Ha Ngoc Chien was promoted to Chairman with 474 votes.

Member of the NA Standing Committee and Deputy Defence Minister Vo Trong Viet was elected as head of the NA’s National Defence and Security Committee.

Deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission Nguyen Duc Hai was chosen as head of the NA’s Finance-Budget Committee.

Deputy head of the NA’s Law Committee Le Thi Nga and deputy head of the NA’s Committee for Social Affairs Nguyen Thuy Anh were respectively promoted to take the helm of their committees.

Nguyen Thanh Hai, deputy head of the NA’s Committee on Culture, Education, Youth, Adolescents and Children was elected as its head.

Secretary of the Nghe An provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Ho Duc Phoc was elected as State Auditor General.

With a 91.5 percent approval, the NA passed a resolution on electing Chairman of the NA’s Ethnic Council, heads of several NA committees and the State Auditor General.

President Tran Dai Quang is due to submit a proposal to relieve the Prime Minister of his duty on April 6.-VNA
