Lam Dong (VNA) – The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong welcomed more than 1.6million visitors in the first quarter of 2018, up 10.3 percent year-on-year andfulfilling 25 percent of the province’s yearly plan.
According to theprovincial People’s Committee, the number of foreign tourists to the localityreached 120,000, up 7.5 percent and completing 25 percent of the target.
Between January-March,the province served more than 1,000 holidaymakers overnight, up 2 percent fromthe corresponding time last year and fulfilling 23 percent of the plan.
Travel businessesand units in Lam Dong have improved facilities and services and held variousspecial programmes to lure more tourists.
Lam Dong is themost popular destination in the Central Highlands, attracting 78.34 percent oftotal visitors to the region, according to the Steering Committee for theCentral Highland Region.
It is hometo the famous resort city of Da Lat, which embraces thetypical natural and cultural features of the Central Highlands. The city,nestled at 1,500 metres above sea level, is quiet and pretty all year with mildclimate and temperatures varying between 15 and 24 degree Celsius.
It isknown by several names which all indicate its romantic beauty: “Little Paris”,“City of Pine Forests” and “Land of Mist”. But the name “Kingdom of flowers” isperhaps its most impressive and accurate.
Lam Dong is also among the hi-tech agricultural production leaders nationwide,and it has been piloting agro-tourism villages, aiming to drawmore domestic and international tourists to the province.
The province hasabout 1,300 accommodation establishments, 100 tourist attractions and 58 travelagencies, as well as thousands of collectives and individuals offering tourismservices. -VNA
