Born in 1912, the young Xuan Thuy began his revolutionary career as a journalist. In 1941, while imprisoned by French colonialists, he continued to write articles for a newspaper called “Suoi Reo”, which was evaluated by the Marxist-Leninist Institute as a particularly valuable part of Vietnam’s revolutionary press.
In 1944, he became director and editor-in-chief of the “Cứu quốc” (National Salvation) newspaper, the most influential newspaper in the country at that time.
Xuan Thuy also had international influence. At the Four-Party Conference on Restoring Peace in Vietnam, held in Paris from 1968 to 1973, as a Minister and Head of the Negotiating Delegation of the Government of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, he demonstrated his bravery and diplomatic talent.
Xuan Thuy also organised the first press training classes in the country. He was the first president of the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, and occupied the post twice between 1950 and 1962.
Within the framework of the seminar, the “Journalist Xuan Thuy” exhibition introduced many pictures, documents, and artifacts on how he came to work in Vietnam’s revolutionary press.
He passed away in 1985, after creating a valuable journalistic heritage in the history of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism./.
