Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesia has issued a tsunami warning after a 7.9-magnitude earthquake hit the country's western island of Sumatra on March 2.

No reports are available yet about casualties and damage caused by the quake.
Indonesia lies on the Pacific "Ring of Fire", where the meeting of continental plates causes strong seismic activity. The island country is frequently hit by earthquakes.-VNA
