Nearly 1,000 travellers aboard the Celebrity Century cruise shipparticipated in a royal banquet in Hue Citadel’s Can Chanh Palace in theDai Noi (Royal Palace) on March 12.
Co-hosted by the HueMonuments Conservation Centre and Saigontourist, the event aimed topopularise the royal banquet programme, a new tourism product exclusiveto Hue Festival events.
The programme began at the Ngo Mon (NoonGate) and progressed to the Can Chanh Palace where a number of artprogrammes and traditional royal games were re-enacted.
The palace, built in 1804 during the reign of King Gia Long, served as avenue for the King to host important ceremonies and festivities andwhere he convened his court and received foreign dignitaries. It was theForbidden Citadel's largest and most beautiful palace before itcollapsed in 1947.
In 2015, Thua Thien- Hue looks to attract 60,000 cruise travellers through the Chan May port.
The port has already received eight ships this month.
The province plans to continue cooperating with the Royal Caribbeancompany to improve the capacity of the port’s pier No 1 to accommodatelarge cruise boats, including “Oasis of the Sea” which is scheduled toanchor in May 2015.-VNA
