Hoi An – convergence of quintessence and culture

The ancient town of Hoi An in Quang Nam has been honoured as "Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination" at the 26th World Travel Awards for the first time.

Hoi An will mark 20 years since it was recognised by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site this November.

Located on the northern bank of Thu Bon river, the town is home to over 1,300 relic sites, including more than 1,000 ancient houses, 19 pagodas, 11 ancient wells and a famous wooden Japanese bridge.

To lure more tourists to the town, Hoi An has introduced a number of new products. Worthy of note is the ‘Hoi An memories’ show, which was recognized as a world-class field show by Reuters in March 2019 and a leading spectacle show at an awards ceremony by Wanderlust Tips Travel Magazine in the Republic of Korea in July 2019.

The award has contributed to promoting Hoi An image in particular and Vietnamese tourism in general to international friends./.
