Liem noted that the RoKis the largest investor and among three biggest trade partners of Vietnam. TheVietnam-RoK free trade agreement, which goes along with tax exemption andreduction for RoK products, will create more opportunities for RoK products inthe Vietnamese market, he said.
At the same time,Vietnamese farm produce, seafood, garment and textiles have also enjoyed a goodchance in the RoK, said Liem, adding that the target of 70 USD in two-way tradeby 2020 is feasible.
Liem also pointed outthat HCM City is hosting over 1,400 RoK-invested projects worth more than 4.6billion USD.
HCM City and Daegucity signed a cooperation and friendship programme in 2015, he said, addingthat activities fostering business communities of both sides and promotingtrade and investment ties have been conducted in both localities.
For his part, Mayor ofDaegu Kwon Young Jin said that businesses from Daegu hope to expand operationin HCM City.
The RoK side will soonlaunch a direct air route linking the two cities, while banks and the Chamberof Commerce and Industry of Daegu will open their representative offices andbranches in the city.
Meanwhile, Pham ThietHoa, Director of the HCM City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre, introducedthe investment environment in the city, highlighting that the city is thelargest economic and financial hub of Vietnam and one of the most dynamiccities in the ASEAN.
He also underlinedadvantages of the city in transportation connectivity with other countries aswell as tourism, calling for RoK firms, especially those from Daegu, toincrease trade exchange with local enterprises. He also pledged to continueadministrative reforms and create optimal conditions for businesses from theRoK as well as Daegu city.-VNA
