HCM City (VNA) – People-to-people diplomacy and cultural exchangeshave been serving as catalysts to bolster diplomatic and economic cooperationbetween Ho Chi Minh City and localities of the Republic of Korea (RoK).
Standing Vice Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Tat Thanh Cang madethe remark during a reception on November 23 for President of the KoreaInternational Exchange Fund Lee Si-hyung.
Lauding the sound relations between Vietnam and the RoK in the past 25 years,Cang noted that both sides share numerous cultural similarities and throughexchange activities, people of both sides will have chances to grasp standoutcultural features of each nation.
The Vietnamese southern hub has learnt the RoK’s experience in management andconstruction of smart urban areas, he said, expressing his hope that the RoKwill support Ho Chi Minh City in building new style rural areas, applying hightechnology in production, improving capacity for farmers and developingagricultural cooperatives.
For his part, Lee laid stress on the importance of people-to-people diplomacyvia cultural exchange activities, expecting that it will further develop in thefuture.
Lee is leading a delegation to attend the Ho Chi Minh City-Gyeongju WorldCultural Festival 2017, which takes place in Ho Chi Minh City from November 11to December 3.-VNA
