Thedata collected from surveillance cameras, installed on the 54km expressway inMarch, will be sent to local police who will issue off-site citations,according to Nguyen Thi Hoai Phuong, deputy director of VECE.
VECEwill also publish the information on media platforms to raise public awarenessabout traffic violations.
Phuongsaid the surveillance would ensure adherence to traffic rules, and improvesafety records and service quality.
OnMarch 10, the 800 billion VND (35.1 million USD) intelligent transport system(ITS) on the expressway was put into operation.
Itincludes 16 camera view systems (CCTV) and 52 vehicle detection systems thathelp identify traffic density and address accidents.
Theimages and videos captured by the ITS are transferred to the management centrelocated in HCM City’s District 9 and are monitored around the clock.
Openedin February 2015, the 55-km expressway significantly reduced the travel time toneighbouring localities.
Theroad now only takes travellers about 20 minutes to go from HCM City to Dong Naiprovince’s Long Thanh instead of the previous one hour.
Ittakes just one hour instead of the previous three to travel to Dau Giay town inDong Nai’s Thong Nhat district.
Lastyear, an average of 28,000 to 30,000 vehicles travelled on the expresswaydaily.-VNA
