Over 140 trillion VND for North-South expressway’s first phase

Hanoi (VNA) – More than 140 trillion VND (6.2 billion USD) will be usedfor the first phase construction of the North-South Expressway linking Hanoiand Ho Chi Minh City.

The State will fund about 55 trillion VND (2.4 billion USD) for the 684kilometre road in the first phase, which will be carried out from 2017-2022.

Four-lane roads with 17 metres in width will be built for Mai Son (NinhBinh)-Bai Vot (Ha Tinh) and Cam Lam (Khanh Hoa)-Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan) sectionsunder the public-private partnership (PPP) form and Cam Lo (Quang Tri)-La Son section(Thua Thien-Hue) under the build-transfer (BT) form.

The Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan)-Dau Giay (Dong Nai) section will also have fourlanes, 25 metres in width and be constructed under the PPP form.

About 688 kilometres of roads are expected to be built in the second phase from2023-2028 at a cost of more than 103 trillion VND (4.5 billion USD).

The construction of the third phase will be carried out after 2028 withinvestment of over 69 trillion VND (3.04 billion USD).-VNA
