Around 70,000 workers are needed in Ho Chi Minh City for the remaining months of the year, mostly in garments and textiles, sales, services, logistics and IT, according to the HCM City Human Resources Forecast and Labour Market Information (Falmi) Centre.

HCM City (VNA)-  Around 70,000 workers are needed in Ho Chi Minh City for the remainingmonths of the year, mostly in garments and textiles, sales, services, logisticsand IT, according to the HCM City Human Resources Forecast and Labour MarketInformation (Falmi) Centre.

Many workers, however, arereluctant to change jobs because of the bonus they receive at year end.

A report from therecruiting firm, the Navigos Group, which includes the online recruitmentportal VietnamWork and executive search firm Navigos Search, said that severalcompanies were willing to offer bonuses to new employees to compensate for theloss.

The labour market in thepower sector is expected to thrive after a long quiet period as thermal poweris forecast to continue to expand to meet electricity demand in Vietnam.

Many solar energy projectsfrom foreign investors are being proposed in localities throughout the country.

The cost of buying andinstalling solar panels has decreased significantly, while the government haspolicies to encourage investment in solar energy.

According to NavigosSearch, recruitment demand for mid- and senior-level positions by the firm’sclients rose in the last quarter, with 19 percent compared to the same periodlast year.

The industries which hadthe highest recruitment demand in this managerial segment included banking andfinance, consumer goods and retail, ICT, manufacturing and services.

In the banking and financeindustry, the highest demand was from banks, insurance companies and consumerfinance companies. In the service industry, the recruitment demand was mostlyfrom companies in advertising and marketing.

The demand in ICT rankedthird, with most of the jobs in IT services and system integration. Thepositions were primarily for managers and engineers experienced in differentprogramming languages.

According to NavigosSearch, some multinational companies in the consumer goods industry in the lastquarter were struggling to recruit regional sales managers, especially in thenorthern mountainous area of the country.

Experienced candidates arenot interested in taking jobs in this area, and less experienced candidates donot meet the requirements of the employers.

In addition, English is aweakness of mid-level sales managers in the northern area.

The emergence ofinternational fashion brands in Vietnam has opened up more employmentopportunities for Vietnamese candidates at all levels.

In the retail industry,mergers and acquisitions (M&A) are still ongoing. Some leading Vietnamesebrands have been acquired by corporations from Japan and Thailand. The M&Adeals have created opportunities for Vietnamese staff to access internationalworking styles and professional chain management.

As for salaries, thehighest pay is for senior-level management positions in the consumer goodsindustry, with nearly 300 million VND (13,157 USD) per month.

Salaries for mid- andsenior-level managers in various industries, such as real estate, banking, ICTand manufacturing, range from 100 million VND to 220 million VND (4.385-9.649USD) per month.

The Falmi Centre reportedthat recruitment demand for workers in the last quarter rose by nearly 24 percentcompared to the same period last year.-VNA
