HCM City, Lao capital step up cooperation

HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City and Laos’ Vientiane capital city needto flesh out measures to boost their relations in trade, investment, cultureand tourism, said Secretary of the HCM City Party Committee Dinh La Thang at areception for visiting Vientiane Governor Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune on March27.

It’s time for HCM City and Vientiane to cooperate in creating joint tourismproducts, he stressed.

Lauding the sound cooperation between the two cities, Thang said thecollaboration is a shining example for other localities to follow.

HCM City and Vientiane should promote delegation exchanges as well as organise significantactivities to celebrate 55th anniversary of the two nations’ diplomaticrelations and the 40th anniversary of the signing of the Vietnam-LaosTreaty of Amity and Cooperation, he added.

For his part, the Vientiane leader said that his visit aimed to present Laos’ DevelopmentOrder, first class, to the Vietnamese southern hub’s party organisation,authorities and people for their support for Laos and Vientiane in particular.

During his stay, he also wished to exchange experience in tax collection andcustoms with Ho Chi Minh City.-VNA
