HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City wants to enhance cooperation withbusinesses in Japan’s Hokkaido prefecture in agriculture, fishing and high-techdevelopment, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Thanh Liemsaid.
He made the statement while receiving Governor of Hokkaido prefecture TakahashiHarumi in Ho Chi Minh City on August 8.
Ho Chi Minh City will be a gateway for Hokkaido’s firms to enter other marketsin Southeast Asia, he said, pledging to create favourable conditions forJapanese firms to trade in the city. The move will help enhance cultural andeconomic exchanges between the two localities.
Harumi said that cooperation between Vietnam and Hokkaido began in oilexploitation.
The Japanese prefecture and Vietnam currently cooperate in agriculture,fishing, technology, education and culture through businesses from bothcountries.
She affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of Hokkaido.
A conference to popularise Hokkaido in Ho Chi Minh City will be a goodopportunity for businesses from the two localities to strengthen culturalexchange as well as tourism and economic collaboration, she said.-VNA
