HCM City (VNA) – Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem hosteda reception for students from an international defence officer class of the Academy of Defenceof Vietnamon October 27.

He said the visitcontributes to prompting the friendly cooperative ties between Vietnam andcountries in the Asian-Pacific region and around the world, especially in defence and security.

HCM City is one of the leading localities nationwide inimplementing external affairs programmes to increase mutual understanding andsolidarity among nations and look toward the building of a peaceful andprosperous world.

Lieutenant General PhanAnh Viet, Deputy Director of the Academy of Defence, said 22 students from 14countries of the fourth international defence officer class, had visited theHistory Museum and the historical relic site of Cu Chi tunnels in HCM City tounderstand better about the culture and people of Vietnam.

The students have anopportunity to study the history of national building and safeguarding as wellas defence policies of Vietnam,he added.-VNA
