HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City on May 27 announced lists of deputies to the 14th National Assembly (NA) and all-level People’s Councils for the 2016 – 2021 tenure, who were voted-in during the recent general election.

According to Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam, head of the city’s Election Committee, 30 deputies have been chosen to the NA, 105 to the municipal People’s Council and 943 to the People’s Councils at district level.

Although the number of representatives elected to the People’s Councils at wards and communes are lower than planned, the city will not organise an additional election as the figure is still enough as defined in law, she said.

Other key leaders of the city also won in the election.

During the May 22 general election, Ho Chi Minh City had 175 candidates vying for 105 seats in the municipal People’s Council. Among the elected, 46 are female, accounting for 43.81 percent; 15 are under 35 years old, making up 14.29 percent; 35 are university graduates, or 33.33 percent and 67 are holding a postgraduate degree, or 63.81 percent.-VNA
