Hanoi, Phnom Penh urged to promote partnership

Vietnam and Cambodia should pay greater attention to creating optimal conditions for their ministries and localities, including Hanoi and Phnom Penh, to expand partnership in all fields, said Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

Phnom Penh (VNA) – Vietnam and Cambodiashould pay greater attention to creating optimal conditions for theirministries and localities, including Hanoi and Phnom Penh, to expand partnershipin all fields, said Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen.

At a reception in Phnom Penh on September 9 for Secretaryof the Hanoi Party Committee Hoang Trung Hai, PM Hun Sen, who is also Presidentof the ruling Cambodian People’s Party, said that the two capital cities shouldincrease the sharing of information and experience in urban management, andstrengthen people-to-people contact.

He stressed that in any circumstances, he will do hisutmost to deepen the relations with Vietnam.

For his part, Hai briefed his host on the cooperationoutcomes between the two capital cities.

Hanoi offered over 5 million USD to Phnom Penh tobuild the Phnom Penh-Hanoi Boulevard in the hope of contributing to the growthof Cambodia, he noted.

Hai also expressed his belief that the CPP willcontinue steering Cambodia to achieve new, greater national development successesin the future.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed a number of issuesof shared concern, including the planning, infrastructure development, urbanmanagement, as well as policies for enterprises to invest in each other, andthe support for the Vietnamese community in Cambodia and Phnom Penh inparticular.

The same day, Hai and the Hanoi delegation held talkswith Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng.

Hai said that his visit aims to reinforce and develop thesolidarity and friendship between the two countries and the two capital citiesin particular and it forms part of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam-Cambodia diplomatic ties.

The Hanoi leader stressed that Hanoi is ready to increasecooperation activities with Phnom Penh in all fields.

He noted that over the past years, Hanoi has workedhard to assist Phnom Penh to build many public works, including the Phnom Penh-HanoiBoulevard and Phnom Daun Penh primary schools worth 2 million USD.

Khuong Sreng thanked Hanoi for effective help in theconstruction and development of Phnom Penh.

The two sides agreed to promote collaborationactivities in all fields for the growth of both sides, saying the talks laiddown a new foundation for the two cities’ cooperation.

Within the framework of the visit from September 8-10,Hai and the Hanoi delegation had meetings with the Vietnamese Embassy’sofficials, Speaker of the Senate Say Chhum and President of the CPP Organizationof Phnom Penh Pa Socheatevong.-VNA
