Hanoi honours 10 outstanding citizens of 2019

An annual conference was held in Hanoi on October 5 to honour its 10 outstanding citizens for 2019 on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the liberation of capital city.

Hanoi (VNA) – An annual conference was held inHanoi on October 5 to honour its 10 outstanding citizens for 2019 on theoccasion of the 65th anniversary of the liberation of capital city.

It is the tenth year that the city has honoured outstandingcitizens.

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the municipal People’sCommittee and the Council for Emulation and Commendation Nguyen Duc Chung saidHanoi was the first locality nationwide to launch emulation campaign “Goodpeople, good deeds” in 1992, which has made important contributions to thecapital’s development in the new period.

He emphasized that besides those who are honoured at theconference, many other people are silently working hard to contribute tosociety and the construction of the capital city.

The 10 outstanding citizens of Hanoi this year includeAssociate Professor Nguyen Thua Hy from the History Faculty of the VietnamNational University – Hanoi’s University of Social Sciences and Humanities, whohas spent his entire life to conduct research on Thang Long – Hanoi.

Another one is teacher Le Thi Hoa from Dong Son elementaryschool in outlying Chuong My district, who has spent 26 years teaching childrenwith metal disorders.

The others are former Director of the National Hospital ofPediatrics Prof. Nguyen Thanh Liem, former Chairman of the Vietnam NeurologicalAssociation Prof. Le Duc Hinh; former chief of Yen Son village in Ba Vidistrict Ly Van Phu; Chairman of the Board of Directors of Doji Gold & GemsGroup Do Minh Phu; Hero of the People’s Armed Forces La Van Cau; head of theThang Long Red Cross Society Le Thu (real name Dao Thi Doan); urban environmentworker Nguyen Thi Thanh Hieu; and composer Le May./.
