Ha Giang (VNA) – Residents in Vi Xuyen border district of the northern mountainous province of Ha Giang are anticipating the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and the People’s Councils at all levels for 2016-2021 slated for May 22.

Chairman of the Lao Chai communal People’s Committee Vien Nguyen Duyen said the locality is holding an education campaign to raise public awareness of the election’s significance, partly by hanging banners with slogans in villages’ meeting halls.

The communes also launched an emulation movement to celebrate the event, he said, adding that entrance to polling stations have been decorated with banners, slogans, flags and flowers.

Local youth unions have also responded to the election by establishing voluntary youth groups riding motorbikes to disseminate relevant information.

Voter Giang Seo Thang, 63, hoped that to-be-elected deputies will use their capability and take full responsibility as “servants of the people”.
