Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has signed a decision toconduct a general economic census across the country in 2021.

The census will collect information about production andbusiness establishments; administrative agencies; branches and representativeoffices of foreign enterprises and foreign non-governmental organisations; religiousand belief establishments; and individual non-agricultural, fishery andforestry business and production establishments.

Information about labour andlabourers’ income, enterprises’ information technology application and theiraccess to loans will be also included.

The census aims to serve the assessment of the country’ssocio-economic development, thus helping the Party and State with making development plans and policies.

The official results of the census are expected to beannounced in the second quarter of 2022.

The Prime Minister also decided to establish a Central SteeringCommittee on General Economic Census which will be headed by the Minister ofPlanning and Investment. The General Director of the General Statistics Officewill be its deputy head./.
