Hanoi (VNA) - Dr Joel Leroy, a world-class French endoscopy expert, will operate on patients suffering from gastrointestinal issues at Saint Paul Hospital in Hanoi from January 15 to 20.

Dr Leroy will conduct surgery on patients suffering from diseases of the stomach, small intestine, colon and liver, besides pancreas, MA Nguyen Dinh Hung, director of Saint Paul Hospital, said.

The surgeries will be recorded and broadcast live at several halls of the hospital so that doctors and other medical staff can observe and learn.

The hospital is screening patients for Dr Leroy's operations. Patients can register for the screening examination from January 4 to 12.

Dr Leroy is the first endoscopy expert to do colorectal surgery without leaving scars on the abdominal wall.
