Hanoi (VNA) – For the last two years, FPT Software - a subsidiary company of Vietnam’s leading technology firm FPT Corporation - has assisted Airbus in collecting, standardising and integrating data of more than 30 airlines in 15 countries worldwide on the Skywise platform.
FPT Software has become one of the world’s first five partners of Airbus to launch the Skywise data platform, paving the way for the faster digital transition of the aviation industry worldwide.
The information was revealed by Airbus during the Paris Air Show 2019, the largest air show and aerospace industry exhibition in the world, from June 17 to 23 in Paris, France. The four other partners are leading tech giants of the world and Europe, namely IBM, Accenture, Capgemini and Sopra Steria.
Skywise is a first-of-its-kind open data platform developed by Airbus in mid-2017, aiming to help all airlines improve operation and business results, as well as support carriers in digital transformation. In December 2017, FPT Software was the first tech firm in Southeast Asia to join the platform.
In nearly two years, FPT Software has assisted Airbus in collecting, standardising and integrating data of more than 30 airlines in 15 countries worldwide on the Skywise platform. Airbus has set a target that in 2019, there will be 100 airlines and more than 100,000 aircraft across the world linked with the platform.
Airbus said that via Skywise, leading tech firms will set the trend for application storage development in the aerospace industry to accelerate the digital transition of an industry worth more than 800 billion USD.
Mathew Evans, Director of Airbus’s Global Skywise Project, said Airbus and FPT Software have worked together in the Skywise project in a comprehensive, intensive and extensive manner. This is a project for the world’s aviation sector development, he said, adding that the two firms will not only work together in the initial phase but also strengthen long-term cooperation.
Hoang Nam Tien, President of FPT Software, said being Airbus’ partner to develop Skywise will open the door for the Vietnamese tech firm to provide inclusive digital transition services in the aviation sector.
This is a result of investment in advanced technologies and partnership with global companies owning leading technologies that FPT Software has pursued over the years, he said.
FPT Software has operated in 45 countries and territories across the world, with more than 16,000 technicians earning thousands of certificates of new technologies, who are carrying out projects of more than 600 companies throughout the world.
It is a subsidiary company of the FPT Corporation, which reported a 22.6 percent year-on-year increase in profit before tax and 19.4 percent increase in revenues in the first four months of the year.
The company’s pre-tax profit reached 1.34 trillion (57.43 million USD) and its revenues hit 7.79 trillion VND (333.43 million USD). Earnings per share were up 21.7 percent annually at 1,446 VND.
A key growth driver, the technology sector recorded revenues and profit before tax of 4.18 trillion VND (179.18 million USD) and 536 billion VND (22.93 million USD), up 22 percent and 45.3 percent.
With the ability to collect aviation data from various different sources, Skywise is expected to help airlines to improve business efficiency by reducing flight interruptions and cutting maintenance costs through a forecast strategy. It will also improve flight operation and management of aircrew and speed up decision-making to cope with unexpected incidents. By integrating data in operation, maintenance and data on the aircraft in a safe and open platform, airlines will be able to store, access, control and analyse the data without further infrastructure investment. With the help of Skywise, Airbus customers will have access to knowledge of 20,000 Airbus technicians who monitor capacity of each airplane during its operation. The platform contains a gigantic source of data collected from 80 carriers and more than 5,000 aircraft across the world.-VNA |
