Jakarta (VNA)– There are four Vietnamese citizens among passengers aboard a plane of PapuaNew Guinea’s Air Niugini that missed the runway on September 28, according tothe Vietnamese Embassy in Indonesia.
The Department of ConsularAffairs under the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry has coordinated with VietnameseEmbassies in Indonesia and the Philippines as well as domestic and foreign competentagencies to support and complete necessary procedures to soon bring thecitizens home.
Air Niugini’s Boeing737-800 aircraft P2-PXE landed short of the runway and on a lagoon on September28 in Chuuk, Micronesia.
Early reports indicate verypoor visibility at the time due to bad weather, and the aircraft came to restin the water 145 metres from the runway, Air Niugini, the national carrier ofPapua New Guinea said in a press statement.
The passengers have beenprovided with accommodations and food while they are in Micronesia.-VNA
