Major Lao newspapers, including Pasaxon, PathetLao and LaoPhatthana, ran articles and photos on August 19 highlighting the significance of the 1945 August Revolution of Vietnam for the country’s revolutionary cause.

Pasaxon, the official organ of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP), affirmed that the August Revolution was a great event and turning point in the revolutionary history of Vietnam as farming and working classes rose to power for the first time, thus establishing the people’s democracy in the country.

Meanwhile, LaoPhatthana – the newspaper of the Lao Journalists Association – stressed that the great victory of the August Revolution was overthrowing hundreds of years of colonialism and thousands of years of feudal rule in Vietnam, establishing the republic democracy and bringing the country into a new era of national independence and socialism.

The August Revolution is the outcome of the strength and intelligence of Vietnamese people and the cultural and historical tradition of the country, the newspaper said.

It added that the event also contributed to great achievements in Vietnam’s reform (Doi Moi) process over the last 30 years and important changes in the country’s socio-economic development, industrialisation and modernisation.

PathethLao, the Lao-language publication of the Lao news agency KPL, said the success of the August Revolution was the first victory of Vietnamese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which opened a momentous turning-point in Vietnam’s history.

The article reviewed difficulties and challenges that Vietnam overcame after the revolution as well as achievements reaped by the country during its 30-year reform process, affirming that the successes over the last seven decades laid a crucial foundation for the country to develop strongly and comprehensively in the time ahead.

The website of the Centre for Economic and Social Studies of Argentina ran an article on August 18, praising achievements of Vietnam’s revolution on the occasion of the two anniversaries.

Key milestones of Vietnam’s revolution from 1945 to 1976 were highlighted in the article, which also mentioned the country’s successful implementation of the Doi Moi process – focusing on national construction and economic development as well as pursuing an independent foreign policy and promoting cooperation with all countries worldwide.

The article also appreciated Vietnam’s robust economic growth in recent years as contributing to improving local living conditions.
