Hanoi (VNA) – Leaders of foreigncountries sent congratulatory messages to Vietnamese Party, State andGovernment leaders on the country’s 73rd National Day (September 2).
Myanmar President Win Myint and State Counsellor AungSan Suu Kyi, as well as Indian President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister NarendraModi cabled their messages of congratulations to Vietnamese President Tran DaiQuang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
In their message, President Win Myint and StateCounsellor Aung San Suu Kyi expressed their delight at the rapid development ofVietnam-Myanmar friendship and multifaceted cooperation, both bilaterally andmultilaterally, particularly within the ASEAN. The Myanmar leaders believedthat the Comprehensive Cooperative Partnership between the two nations would becontinuously consolidated and developed for mutual benefits.
Meanwhile, the Indian leaders said they were pleasedto welcome President Quang and PM Phuc in India in March and January 2018,respectively. They thanked Vietnam for its significant contributions ascoordinator of ASEAN-India relations. They affirmed that Vietnam is a keypillar in India’s “Look East” policy and expressed confidence in the growth of theVietnam-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for mutual benefits and forpeace and development in the region.
The Vietnamese President and PM also receivedsimilar messages from US President Donald Trump, who affirmed that 2018 is anoutstanding year with milestones recorded in Vietnam-US relations.
President Trump said he was satisfied with hisvisits to Da Nang and Hanoi last year, and applauded the increasingconnectivity between the two countries as reflected in their Comprehensive Partnership.He believed that 2019 would be a promising year for bilateral ties, and islooking forward to working with Vietnamese leaders in stepping up therealisation of priorities set for the Indo-Pacific region.
Governor-General of Australia Peter Cosgrove sent a congratulatoryletter to President Tran Dai Quang. In the letter, he wrote Australia highlyvalues its relations with Vietnam.
The Governor-General said he was delighted to findthat the importance of bilateral ties was acknowledged by the Vietnamese andAustralian PMs in the joint statement on establishing Vietnam-AustraliaStrategic Partnership in early 2018. Cosgrove said he expects the bilateral relationshipto thrive on the basis of their freshly upgraded relations. He also stressedhis belief that the two countries, as members of the Comprehensive andProgressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), will continueexpanding their economic and trade cooperation.
President Moon Jae-in also delivered acongratulatory message to President Tran Dai Quang, in which he expressed hishope that based on agreements secured by both sides in his visit to Vietnamlast March, more diverse cooperation activities will be held, thus bringing wealthand happiness to people of both nations and deepening their mutualunderstanding and friendship.
Meanwhile, in his letter to President Tran DaiQuang, Japanese Emperor Akihito conveyed his sincere congratulations and wishfor prosperity to the Vietnamese people. The Emperor said he and EmpressMichiko were happy to remember memories they shared with President Quang andhis wife during the Vietnamese leader’s visit to Japan.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko extendedhis greetings to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam CentralCommittee Nguyen Phu Trong and President Tran Dai Quang, while Belarusian PMSergei Rumas cabled a message of congratulations to PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and President of theRepublic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon also sent congratulatory messages toPresident Tran Dai Quang.
On this occasion, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinhreceived congratulations from Myanmar Vice Presidents Myint Swe and Henry VanThio.
Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minhreceived congratulatory messages from Myanmar’s Union Minister forInternational Cooperation Kyaw Tin, US Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo,Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister for Judicial Reform and Minister of ForeignAffairs Ekaterina Zaharieva, and Belarusian Minister of Foreign AffairsVladimir Makei.-VNA
