During fact-finding trips to over 10 national parks in fourcontinents and 14 out of 32 national parks in Vietnam, travel agency TransViet initiateda campaign “Save our Forest” and offered suggestions to improve tourism servicesand protect the environment.
It also called on visitors to raise awareness of forestprotection and suggested placing more rubbish bins at national parks, buildsafe cooking areas with professional firefighting equipment, expand parkingareas at forest gates and use eco-friendly materials.
Studies showed that tourism activities heighten risk of landand water pollution, especially in areas with limited waste treatment capacity.
According to the World Economic Forum’s globalcompetitiveness rankings 2017, Vietnam’s environment protection indexes remainedlow. Among 136 countries and territories worldwide, Vietnam’s environmentsustainability ranked 129th, waste volume at 128th place,environment regulations at 115th, water treatment at 107th and deforestation at 103rd.-VNA
