Director General of the Vietnam NationalAdministration of Tourism Nguyen Van Tuan said the policy will make it easierfor overseas visitors to enter Vietnam.
To apply fore-visas, foreign citizens must complete a form available on two separatewebsites (one in Vietnamese at http://www.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn and the other in Englishat http://www.immigration.gov.vn) run by the Ministry of Public Security. Theywill receive an application code and will be asked to pay a non-refundable feeonline.
It will take three working days for tourists tofind out if their applications have been approved or not.
Providing e-visas is a good move, but not enoughto help Vietnam’s tourism compete with other countries in the region, said VicePresident of the Vietnam Tourism Association Vu The Binh.
He suggested more policies such as visaexemptions, tourism promotion, and human resources development to attract moreinternational tourists.
The pilot e-visa granting is implemented in two years.-VNA
