Durian exports surge 18 times in May

Durian exports reached a record high of 332 million USD in May, which was more than 10 times higher than the previous month.

According to the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in the first five months of this year, Vietnam exported over 65,000 tons of durians, up 41% year-on-year.

The surge in durian exports in May was the major contributor to the overall growth of the fruit-vegetable export group.

It is forecasted that durians will continue to perform well, with a possible turnover of over one billion USD in 2023.

To capitalize on this market opportunity, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development plans to increase the granting of growing area codes and packaging facilities to further facilitate the export of durians and other fruits and vegetables./.
