The biennial seventh festival will beheld from July 11 to 14 in Nha Trang city, Khanh Vinh district, and NinhHoa Township, said Vice Standing Chairman of the Khanh Hoa People’sCommittee Tran Son Hai at a press conference in Hanoi on May 8.
Hai, who is also the head of the organising board, noted outstandingactivities such as an exhibition on marine cultural heritage, a documentdisplay on the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos,the semi-final round of the Miss Universe Vietnam, and salangane nest,wine and embroidery festivals.
Other highlights willinclude a street festival, a music programme on seas and islands andperformances by foreign arts troupes.
Around twentyactivities will take place in the run up to the Sea Festival, includingbeach cleanups, Ocean Day and Sea and Island Week, he added, expectingthe Festival will attract 100,000 visitors.
Theofficial noted only 30-35 percent of the event funding has been sourcedfrom the province’s budget; the rest is covered by private organisationsand companies.
Known for a mild climate, Nha Trangcity recorded an annual 10-20 percent increase in the number ofvisitors, which rose three-fold over the last four years from 300,000 to900,000.
During the six-day holiday in late April, the city hosted 107,000 visitors, including nearly 15,000 foreigners.-VNA
