DOC announces partial rescission of review of Vietnamese steel nails

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announced preliminary results and partial rescission of the administrative review of countervailable subsidies on Vietnamese steel nails, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Hanoi (VNA) – The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has announcedpreliminary results and partial rescission of the administrative review ofcountervailable subsidies on Vietnamese steel nails, according to the Ministryof Industry and Trade. 

The DOC explained that Mid Continent Steel &Wire, Inc. (the petitioner) withdrew its request for a review of eight out of11 targeted companies, while no other party requested a review of these eightcompanies.

The DOC said it also intends to rescind thereview of one of the three remaining companies as there is no evidence thecompany exported the products to the US during the period of review (POR).

As a result of this review, the Departmentpreliminarily determined the countervailable subsidy rates to be 313.97 percentfor the remaining two companies during the POR from November 3, 2014 toDecember 12, 2015. 

The Department is expected to issue the finalresults of this review within 120 days after publishing these preliminaryresults.

When the final results are issued, theDepartment and US Customs and Border Protection will assess the countervailingduties and cash deposits on all appropriate entries covered by the review. 

On June 6, 2017, the DOC also announcedpreliminary results and partial rescission of antidumping duties, as theyconduct an administrative review of certain steel nails from Vietnam.

The DOC allows relevant parties to submit casebriefs no later than 30 days after the date of publication of these preliminaryresults.

Rebuttal briefs, limited to issues raised in thecase briefs, may be filed no later than five days after the case briefs arefiled. 

Interested parties who wish to request a hearingmust submit a written request to the DOC’s Assistant Secretary for Enforcementand Compliance within 30 days since the publication of the notice.-VNA
