In Tran De district and Vinh Chau township, the Deputy PM visited a ship dockwhere 600 ships have been sheltering from the storm, along the Hau River aswell as several safe places for people in Vinh Chau township.
Chairman of the Soc Trang provincial People’s Committee Tran Van Chuyen told theDeputy PM that the province has mobilised all sources to minimise losses forthe locals, adding the evacuation work has been fulfilled on December 24, with27,000 people displaced to schools and agencies’ headquarters with thesufficient supply of water, foods and medicines.
Deputy PM Dung also made a field trip to Bac Lieu province to inspect the BacLieu wind power project in Bac Lieu city, dyke system and evacuation plan andship dock in Nha Mat ward, Bac Lieu city.
The same day, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong, alsohead of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, leda working delegation to inspect preparedness for the storm in Khanh Hoi area, U Minh district, thesouthernmost province of Ca Mau.
According to the district’s report, by December 25 noon, over 800 fishing boatshad sheltered in Khanh Hoi, Khanh Tien and Khanh Lam communes.
As of December 25 afternoon, the district evacuated more than 4,000 people fromdangerous areas.
Cuong then worked with authorities of neighbouring Kien Giang province about itswork to cope with Tembin, the 16th storm hitting the East Sea so far this year.-VNA
