Hanoi (VNA) – Deputies at the 14th National Assembly have expressed confidence in Tran Dai Quang, who was re-elected as the State President in the July 25 election with 98.18 percent of votes.

Many deputies praised the speech presented by the President at the swearing-in ceremony on the same day, saying that this showed the will, determination and responsibility of the State leader for the task of national defence and construction.

Speaking on the sidelines of the ongoing first NA session, Lieutenant General Nguyen Trong Nghia from Tien Giang province said he believes that with his rich experience, President Quang will be a excellent commander of the People’s armed forces, thus firmly safeguarding the country’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

People nationwide expect sustainable economic growth which goes along with a sustainable legal system, he said.

Along with socio-economic and cultural development and Party building, defence-security safeguard is a key task, he said.

Nghia added that President Quang’s speech affirmed his determination to combine national defence and socio-economic development.

At the same time, Pham Tat Thang, a representative from Vinh Long province commented that the speech presented the political determination of the State leader for responsibilities assigned by the Party, the State and the People.

It also spotlighted what the President will do in his tenure, including tackling the issues that concern the people, he noted.-VNA
