Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam did not suffer from anycyber attacks that caused extensive impact or serious problems during thetraditional Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday, according to the Ministry ofInformation and Communications.
From January 23 to 27, the ministry’s Authorityof Information Security recorded 169 attacks on the information systems in thecountry, down 3 percent from the Tet holiday last year. They included 31defacement, 64 phishing and 74 malware attacks.
To meet the surged demand for high-speedinternet access during the most important annual festival, telecom serviceproviders increased the bandwidth for internet traffic from Vietnam to theworld, improved the configuration of 2G, 3G and 4G base stations, and addedvehicles serving as base transceiver stations at crowded places.
Therefore, during Tet, especially the Lunar NewYear’s Eve on January 24, the internet connection stayed smooth and networkcongestion did not occur, the ministry noted./.
