CPV Central Committee issues announcement about 9th meeting

The 9th plenary meeting of the 12th Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee wrapped up in Hanoi on December 26 after two days of sitting.

Hanoi (VNA) – The 9th plenary meeting of the 12th Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) CentralCommittee wrapped up in Hanoi on December 26 after two days of sitting. 

General Secretary of the CPVCentral Committee and President Nguyen Phu Trong chaired and delivered openingand closing speeches at the meeting.

After discussing the Politburo’sreports, the CPV Central Committee issued an announcement.

According to the announcement,the CPV Central Committee cast votes of confidence on 21 members of thePolitburo and Secretariat of the 12th tenure.

The CPV Central Committee gavefeedback on the nomination of 205 people planned for the CPV Central Committeefor the 2021-2026 tenure.

The CPV Central Committee reachedhigh consensus on the Politburo’s report on suggesting disciplinary measuresagainst Tat Thanh Cang, member of the CPV Central Committee and Permanent DeputySecretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

Accordingly, the CPV CentralCommittee decided to relieve Cang from his posts as member of the 12th CPV Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City PartyCommittee for the 2015-2020 tenure, and member of the Standing Board of the HoChi Minh City Party Committee for the 2015-2020 tenure.

According to the workingregulations of the 12th CPV Central Committee, Politburo andSecretariat, members of the CPV Central Committee offered opinions on a reportreviewing the leadership and directions of the Politburo and Secretariat during2018.

The Politburo was asked toacquire such feedback to further improve the efficiency of its leadership anddirections.

The Politburo’s report on itsimportant activities from the 8th meeting to the 9th meeting was also tabled for discussion.

The CPV Central Committee calledon the entire Party, people and army to strengthen unity, uphold achievementsin 2018, and overcome difficulties to firmly safeguard national independenceand security, territorial sovereignty, and successfully accomplish tasks setfor 2019 and those set by the 12th National Party Congress.-VNA
