COVID-19: New cases on December 23 total 16,377

Vietnam recorded 16,377 cases of COVID-19 in 62 localities during 24 hours from 4pm December 22 to 4pm December 23, including 10 imported cases, according to the Ministry of Health.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam recorded 16,377 cases of COVID-19 in 62 localities during 24hours from 4pm December 22 to 4pm December 23, including 10 imported cases, accordingto the Ministry of Health. 

Hanoi recordedthe highest number of infections with 1,774, followed by Ca Mau with 1,167 and TayNinh with 949.

The national tally reached 1,604,712.

According to the Ministry of Health’s report, 7,493 patientsnationwide are in serious conditions, with 882 requiring invasiveventilation and 18 on life support (ECMO).

On the day, the country saw 280 deaths from thedisease. The death toll now hits 30,531 equal to 1.9 percent of the totalcaseload.

A further 10,944 patients were given the all-clear, taking the total number ofrecoveries to 1,184,428.  

By December 22, the country had injected over 142.34million doses of vaccines to date, with more than 64.1 million peoplenow fully inoculated, while over 1.7 million third shots, either booster shotsor the third shot of Abdala vaccine have been administered./.

Hanoi tightens control, prevention of monkeypox
